COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Coronavirus SARS 2 CoV strain. The disease spectrum ranges between a simple cold to fatal pneumonia.
COVID 19 accounting to 19 million cases and 700 thousand deaths worldwide, WHO urges the following measures to the general public to prevent transmission and keep yourself safe.
Clean your hands regularly with soap & water or alcohol-based hand rub.
Maintain at least 1-meter distance between yourself and others to avoid droplet transmission.
Avoid going to crowded places.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth to reduce the chance of transmission.
Respiratory hygiene: Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands.
Stay home and self isolate yourself, if any cough headache mild fever occurs. Avoid contact with others to protect them from possible COVID-19 infection
If any breathing difficulty, dry cough, high fever, persistent myalgia, seek medical attention. call your local authorities and seek their guidance.
BE ACTIVE: Regular physical activity benefits both mind and body.
WHO recommends a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity per day in adults and 60 minutes in children.
walk up and down the stairs, stretching exercises, dance to music, spot jogging music, skipping can be done indoor.
DIET: No food or supplements can prevent or cure COVID. A healthy diet is important to support the immune system and fight infection.
Eat a mix of whole grains and legumes in diet: wheat, Maize, rice, lentils, millets, beans.
Plenty of vegetables and fresh fruits.
Cut back on salt: one tablespoon per day. Remove the salt shaker from the table.
Replace butter ghee (animal fats) with Sunflower, mustard, or soy oil for cooking.
Try steaming or boiling instead of frying food.
Stay hydrated: 2-3 liters of water per day.
Avoid alcohol: drinking alcohol does protect against COVID-19 and can be dangerous.
No evidence that COVID-19 spread through contact with food or food packaging. However, it's always important to practice good hygiene when handling food to prevent any foodborne illness.
