Online marketing tips for beginners – Marketing your clinic

Do you own a clinic but not getting enough high-income patients?

Do you want to invest in online marketing but don’t have the budget to go through a specialist agency?

Have you thought of doing your online marketing by yourself, but don’t know where to begin?

If you answered ‘YES’ to the above questions, then this blog post might be of value to you!

In this day and age, deciding how to you use your online platform to market your clinic can hugely dictate its success or failure.

Your patients are online. The average person spends a huge portion of their day on digital and social media platforms. If you are not there, you are losing out on some major opportunities to grow.

Online marketing helps you reach a much wider network, that is physically not possible through traditional offline sources (billboards, magazines etc.) It may seem a bit intimidating at first, but online platforms are so user-intuitive nowadays, that you can develop a satisfactory campaign without much prior experience or expertise.

The options explored below are for people that have no prior experience in online marketing. The strategies will be very basic and are not be tailor-made for your clinic – But something is better than nothing, right?

Of course going through a specialist digital marketing agency is less tedious and can bring you more results. But if you don’t have the budget for it right now, you can definitely get a head start on your online marketing plan with some of the ideas explored below.

Create some content!

In my previous blog post on marketing strategies for clinics, we talked about the importance of developing useful content for patients to read and interact with.

Let’s face it, you are sitting on a mountain of information that your patients would be very grateful to know – Tips to avoid getting diseases, advice to manage your diseases and insights on how to maintain overall well-being.

Write them down. Or better, shoot a video of your talk and post it on your website and social media channels.

Doing this can not only get you more traction for your online marketing campaign, but can also improve your reputation as a doctor in the online community.

Go Social!

There are different ways you can use your social media platforms effectively –

1. Create a page for your clinic and post pictures and videos of your operations

2. Share testimonials/reviews from patients (with their consent of course!)

3. Share the content that you have created (be it a written article, or a video)

Get on Google Adwords!

What is Google Adwords?

Google Adwords is an advertising tool developed by Google. It helps you advertise to people that are currently searching for your services on the internet.

How does Google Adwords do this?

When someone types in a search query for “Clinics near me” or “Dental clinic Bangalore”, a text ad for your clinic and link to your website will be displayed in the search results page. I have shown you a screenshot below as an example.

Can Google Adwords be used by someone with no marketing experience?

Yes and No. The Adwords program is pretty user-intuitive. But, to avoid wasting money, I highly recommend doing a quick tutorial that explains all the nitty-gritties.

There are many more online strategies (email marketing, referral marketing etc.) that can help dramatically improve your online campaign, but the above 3 should help you get a head start for the time being.

Remember, it’s unlikely that you will see a desired effect as soon as you start your campaign. Much like developing your reputation offline, an online campaign takes time, but will eventually pay off.
